Anilines Oxidation with Chlorine Dioxide in Wastewater

چکیده
Oxidative behaviors of three toxic pollutants including aniline, p-toludine and p-chloroaniline with ClO2 in water were studied with HPLC. The removal rates of anilines were used as criteria in this experiment. Effects of the ClO 2 concentration, pH and reaction time on the removal rate of anilines were discussed. The results show that for 1mmol ·L-1 aniline, p-toludine and p-chloroaniline, the optimal process conditions were as follows: ClO2 concentration as 5mmol ·L-1, pH as 8, 8-9 and 7-8 and the reaction time as 60, 30 and 20min for aniline, p-toludine and p-chloroaniline respectively. The removal rates of anilines were higher than 90% , revealing that the oxidative method of ClO2 is very feasible and efficient for anilines removal. Two intermediates p-aminophenol and azobenzene were detected by means of GC-MS. And, the possible reaction pathway was proposed.

Investigation of Color Removal by Chemical Oxidation for Three Reactive Textile Dyes and Spent Textile Dye Wastewater
This research investigated the efficacy of chlorine dioxide (ClO2), ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, UV in combination with chlorine dioxide (UV/ClO2), and UV in combination with hydrogen peroxide (UV/H2O2) for decolorizing three reactive azo dyes (sultan red, indigo blue and cypress green) and treated textile-manufacturing wastewater. The objective was to determine the best treatment for reducing...
متن کاملQuantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs) for the transformation of organic micropollutants during oxidative water treatment.
Various oxidants such as chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ferrate(VI), ozone, and hydroxyl radicals can be applied for eliminating organic micropollutant by oxidative transformation during water treatment in systems such as drinking water, wastewater, and water reuse. Over the last decades, many second-order rate constants (k) have been determined for the reaction of these oxidants with model compou...
متن کاملKinetics of Chlorine Dioxide Oxidation of Benzidine in Tannery Wastewater
Reaction kinetics of benzid ine oxidation with ClO 2 in the wastewater was investigated systematically by detecting concentrations of benzid ine with HPLC at regular intervals. The results show that the reaction was firstorder with respect to both ClO2 and benzid ine, and the entire reaction was of second-order. Under condition of pH 6.5 and water temperature 298K, the second-order reaction rat...

The use of chlorine bleaching in study and pulp industry has resulted in chlorinated phenol contaminated wastewater from that industry. A new wastewater treatment process, sonophotodegradation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) in a heterogeneous aqueous system was investigated and reported in this study. TCP was degraded with ultrasonic or ultraviolet irradiation or a combination of both, in the p...
متن کاملThe formation and control of emerging disinfection by-products of health concern.
When drinking water treatment plants disinfect water, a wide range of disinfection by-products (DBPs) of health and regulatory concern are formed. Recent studies have identified emerging DBPs (e.g. iodinated trihalomethanes (THMs) and acids, haloacetonitriles, halonitromethanes (HNMs), haloacetaldehydes, nitrosamines) that may be more toxic than some of the regulated ones (e.g. chlorine- and br...
